VB.NET is probably the one I would go for as VB is easier to start learning than C/C++/C# but will lead you onto the .NET framework which where it's all going.

Start learning yourself by playing with VBA in excel macros, then once you can do that, move onto creating and editing simple things in visual studio. Don't bother with a class until you are comfortable at this level.

Further to other answers, C# (the new implementation of C++) uses the .NET framework and so does VB.NET so there is massive amounts of interoperability. Its almost irrelavent which one you program due to the framework. C++ is currently very widely used in the industry and I suspect will be for a while yet.
