I agree with northcarrlight... all the government do is wreck anything special or good.

I think the people of this country need to acknowledge that if they want this service they need to put their hands in the pockets and donate whenever they have opportunity.

Whilst in Cornwall on holiday I watched the guys running for a call and they came from the fishmarket, the bank, the bakers etc. These are normal guys (and gals) who risk their lives not for a wage like the fire brigade but for the good of us all... bravo, hats off, dig deep and stop this wonderful institution from being corrupted by beurocracy, unions and all the other pathetic jobs worths who have the audacity to call themselves civil servants.

Any RNLI guys reading this you have my upmost admiration - you rock!!!

If, by some bizarre twist of fate, I found myself stranded at sea, I would want the RNLI to come to my rescue as it is ran people who have a passion for what they are doing. If the government got hold of it, they would want a committee meeting to asses the health and safety implications and would decide to close it down because saving lives involves too much risk. So, er.. no.

What is the "RNLI" Before knowing, however, the Democrats would say yes, I'm sure.

Definitely not. The RNLI must be allowed to keep it's idependence and it's charitable status. Government intervention would ruin the excellent work that they do now.

Most certainly it is a national disgrace that it is funded by fund raising and public charity. Extremely good question.

Flaked rice I hope you never get stranded in the English channel.
