There is a belief I adhere to that we constantly receive messages from our own intuition. The key, then, is learning to correctly interpret the messages. They can be dreams, hunches, voices, illnesses, spirit guides, or physiological sensations or symptoms. But they do tell us something. Learning to listen opens up many doors to the Universe!

For example, it is possible to learn how "truth" and "not-truth" feel to the body. Also how another person's jealousy makes us feel. How true contentment makes us feel, be it a slowing of the heartbeat or a rush of energy up the spine. A person who wishes me ill makes me feel physically ill to my stomach, but soemone who wishes harm to others makes my intestines cramp. Etc, ad infinitum. Learning to listen to it and trust it is an extremely powerful tool.

Raging hormones? No.
I'm really unqualified to answer this question but i'll venture a guess anyway. It's gotta be Love, i think. Love for one own self as a precedent that enables us to love another and continually grow as a person, or as communities, because we can only share what we have inside. I don't think any of our positive actions or thoughts are devoid of the power of love though that sounds a little corny.

Of course a great deal of hardship or inner turmoil changes a person just as much, but it becomes a really self destructive kind of transformation, that it is some kind of survival mechanisms which formulations may be ingrained in our minds and recieved subconsciously, out of fear etc etc. Feeding off negativities and bad energy and confusing them as strong agents of motivations, weak and ironic reasons we give ourselves to progress. That's inner alchemy of the nuclear catasrophy variety. I may suffer from this a bit myself..he..he..

But my final answer is Love.
