They would ask about your background experience in cashiering, like what skills you know and your schooling. Make sure you have a resume and a sheet of references ready.
You dress nicely. Wear formal clothing like a dress or a skirt, with a nice blouse, pantyhose and shoes. Nothing sloppy. Have good hygeine.
Yes you can say thank you and give them a note via mail.
If they really need you right away, you probably start on the spot or the next day. Chances are, they're still interviewing others and won't get back to you until the following week with an answer.Mostly it's after you're hired.
Even for the job interview, don't arrive late and be there on time or even a bit early. It's ok to be nervous. Wait in the reception area until you're called. Fill out the job application. Have good eye contact with them, answer truthfully, and be positive. Shake their hands when you're done. It's also good to practice with someone on your job interview with your friends, boyfriend or family member. Good luck. Hope this helps.
One other tip: Do research on the company or supermarket to ask questions. Do it ahead of time. Bring pen and paper and your questions to ask them. If they have a website, it's good to know some knowledge on them.

Just be natural and show an interest in the company and the job. Answer the questions to the best of your ability and don't try to fake an answer to a question you don't know. Dress nicely but not over the top. You may want to remove anything that's in a piercing other than your ears. Tounge and lip piercings may turn off some employers. Don't tell them that you can work a certain schedule that you know you can't work. If you can't work Tuesday evenings for some reason then be honest and let them know.Sit up straight and be attentive. Don't be afraid to ask the interviewer pertinent questions, after all you are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you. Be yourself, be honest and you'll do just fine. Don't get discouraged if you don't get the job. Forget it and move on.

1. your previous experience, if any. you good with people, how do you handle rude customers, are you trustworthy, lots of "ethical" questions pertaining to stealing and money
2. dress appropriately, wear something nice but not too dressy. it's a cashier position, not a CEO position. do not wear jeans or flip flops or form fitting clothing. wear something tasteful like khakis and a nice dressy shirt or pant suit if you have one
3. only give thank you card after the interview and mail it to them. don't give them one right on the spot. wait a day or so then mail one out if you wish to be professional. regardless of whether you get the job or not, send one a day or so after the interview.
4. no gum or candy, stay focused, go in with some questions about the job, what you'll be doing, environment etc, maintain eye contact or stare at their nose when speaking or listening, don't be fidgety, appear professional at all times, shake the persons hand both before the interview and after, appear upbeat since you'll be in the customers face all day, don't appear to be distracted either

whatever you do...don't fart...i did this--_BELIEVE IT OR NOT I STILL GOT THE JOB because I had what they wanted...two degrees one in finance and the other in accounting plus I speak spanish, armenian, and English.

*make sure you dress very nice
*yes the thank you note will be good because that way they will remember you (after the interview)
*try to take the interview towards your direction ask questions like;

-What type of person they are looking for
-What is a typical day for someone in the position you are applying for
-What type of training do they offer and for how long.
-Why did the last person leave the position

by the way...the person who interviewed me later left the company...today we are best friend...we may become more later...but i was just very very very lucky ;)

Do: Be polite. Shake hands. Dress neatly, but don't dress up. A nice shirt and slacks (not jeans) will probably be fine. Smile and look people in the eye when you talk to them. Send a thank you after the interview, addressed to the person who saw you; get a business card to make sure you spell their name correctly.

Don't: Chew gum. Be late. Be unclean or messy. Dress sexually -- no Cleavage!!!

Good luck!

look up interview questions on Monster and practise answering them, remeber you are selling yourself so give answers that show a benefit to hiring you, not just to make yourself sound good

bouse with skirt or pants

no jeans, no grafitti

always send a little thank you note, something that is relevant to what was discussed during the interview, after each intverview, before you land the job

Where something Casual, but propper, like a polo shirt and some Kaki's.
Different interviewers ask different questions, because they have different ways of deciding who to hire.
Just make sure that you listen carefully to the questions, and answer in good grammer.
Don't whipser your answers, speak like your speaking to your friends, only concervatively.
Keep your head up and make eye contact, but don't givea a creepy stare.

Make sure you look put together.
If you have old nail polish on, clean it off.
Make sure you smell fresh, but don't use perfumes, you don't want your interviewer to have an allergy attack.
Have your hair neat and clean and wear light makeup.
You don't want to look like a hussy, or like someone who doesn't keep themselves up.
I wouldn't worry about a thank you note.

Well I have a good nack for interview's. First thing you want to do is BE YOURSELF and when I say that be confident in any and every question you answer. You want to dress nice and I don't mean you have to look like your going to a funeral but something nice. Nothing trashy you don't want them thinking your something your not. It can definitely be casual. And just have all of your things together like hygiene that's number one. ie: teeth brushed, hair combed, food off your face, things like that. And if your hired then tell them thank you very much and don't disappoint them. You should be ok. Good luck

do not wear perfume, be on time., if not early, wear something simple, not flashy or complicated. no card, just tell them you want the job and thank them. look them in the eye, if that's hard after a bit then look at the tip of there noise. they will ask you why you want to work for them, don't say for the paycheck, if its a big company, you look for opportunity to advance, get info of company off the computer, that might be helpful, go to www.tesh.com, and look under jobs or something like that, hes full of all kinds of good advice
