Your computer manual should give you instruction on how to use your restore disks that came with your computer.
This will format your harddrive and install windows like you just brought it home

Try doing a system restore. Go to Start Menu, then Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools. You should see a system restore option. Restore your computer to a date when your computer was working fine.
You can also purchase a recovery disc from your manufacturer. You might want to do that instead of spending $100 on a Windows CD.

Do you want to reset your BIOS as well - you have to go into your BIOS (usually by pressing F1 or ESC) and find the setting labeled "Restore Factory Defaults."
I would create a recovery CD/DVD first, restore the BIOS back to factory defaults and then reinstall from the recovery CD. These procedures will bring your PC back to the day you unpacked it from the box.

Yea boot to the Windows CD and it will allow you to "repair" Windows....... Which in real terms, put everything back to how it was in day 1. You might wanna backup your files and stuff first.

If it came with a restore CD, you can just insert that and it will reload everything to how it was.
