It all depends. Do you play for fun or profit?
If fun, take only what you can afford to lose. Treat it like any other kind of entertainment. Do you think watching 10 movies per week is a problem? That costs a fair amount. People don't talk about that though, because gambling is a 'sin'.
If you're in it for the money, play poker instead. The other players don't have the edge that the house always does (if you are skillful). I make my living playing online poker. Works for me, but it's HARD work.

Like any business, there's an increase in traffic congestion and stuff like that. Like the other posters said, there are a few individuals who get carried away and spend too much time or money doing it. Financially speaking, gambing is a very dangerous hobby.
