is it something cultural or biological?

is it instinct? when did we(human beings) started kissing?

i personally don´t enjoy kissing that much... It seems pretty clear to me that I only enjoy kissing the girls I´m in love... but even then, the kiss is just "another thing", not nearly as important as sex... if a girl offered me to exchange(it´s just an example, im not used to have sex this way, hahaha) 5 seconds of sex for 10 minutes of kissing, i wouldn´t take it

and yes, there are some "special mouths" that I really enjoy, can´t explain why, but those are exceptions

so the question is pretty simple, why do we kiss? if you think about it, it´s really disgusting... not only with hookers/hoes/sluts, but with anybody... i don´t understand how some guy/girls can kiss up to 10 strangers at the same night(yes, this is very common in my country)

maybe the philosophers have something interesting to say about that as well...

thanks for reading my question!!

"we kiss because it is a random way of showing affection towards each other. "

is it really just random? kissing a woman´s breast, for example, is not random at all... it´s actually an awesome turn on, every guy will agree with that...

"eskimos use their noses to sho affection."

how about nowadays, do they still do it?

" it was all invented by some man or woman in ancient history."

well, i very much doubt that...

thanks for the answer girl!

"The "kiss" on the lips between male and female is usually a sign of intimacy for one and the other. Case closed."

haha, ok, where did you get this information from? I think you should spread the word, not many people know that

i think it was a way of exchanging food

you know like birds do

the mom chews it up cos the kids dont have teeth and then passes it to the kid so it can digest it and grow up, to have teeth of their own some day

and since it WAS (i hope its not any more) and act between mother and child, it translated as an act of love and perhaps thats why today we do it with our lovers

(the last part was just a guess, the first part i heard somewhere like 15 years ago, im half sure it true)

At the most basic level, a child kisses (suckles at) it's mothers breast and because the mother is feeding it, the child feels affection for the mother.
When two people kiss each other on the lips, they do so because they feel a great harmony between themselves at this time. This harmony when it is new is called romantic love. Later on, when the two people get to know each other well in all their aspects, and are still en rapport with each other, then this is a mature harmony.
Whoever gets to this point? Some do. You have to work at it.
People that like to kiss are usually those who want a harmonious relationship (& not just a sexual one). People that are more interested in just sex do not like to kiss.

I'm with you-I really don't like it, either.

I have heard that since the mouth is one area that experiences pleasure through eating and drinking, that this is an area that some people find also pleasurable for kissing. Assuming, of course, you find kissing pleasurable.

It also fosters an intimacy between couples or friends, relatives.
The only thing I like to kiss is my cat when I'm snuggling her.

Most people in my opinion don't know how to kiss anyway. So that seems to take a lot of the fun out of it.

Because we can.

"Scientific naturalism is the view that only scientific knowledge is reliable and that science can, in principle, explain everything. This paper surveys the inherent weaknesses in this philosophy, illustrated by the naturalistic attempt to extract ethics from biology. Different Christian responses to naturalism are considered. It is argued that the Christian worldview provides a more coherent explanation than naturalism for the properties of the universe and for the richness of human experience. Ironically, naturalism itself puts at risk the future health of science."

Because we want to. There are other ways of expressing emotions. Its a random choice. And sometimes its just because you want to, not because of an emotion.
