There is never going to be a good answer to that question due to the fact hindsight is 20/20 and no matter what anyone's opinion is now - President Bush had the responsibility no one would willingly take. President Bush had the death of over 3000 people and the security of a nation all resting on his shoulders. In a country of this size - no matter what he wasn't going to make everyone happy.
Personally I would of traced the terrorists ( but I would of probably had the same boggled intelligence agencies) and blown their home countries and their money laundering friends off the planet.

I would have made sure that the intelligence services were communicating with each other and helping each other out and using local law enforcement for help and not treating them like they're some kind of idiots. Of course, I'd have to hope that Clinton actually take Bin Laden when offered twice and then we wouldn't have had 9/11 attacks in the first place.

I would not have blown off the intelligence report I received a few days prior entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States."
If I was not able to thwart the attack, I would have at the very least gotten up out of my chair immediately upon being informed that the nation was under attack instead of staying and reading "My Pet Goat" to the school children.
I would have ignored Rumsfeld's advice to try to connect the attack with Saddam Hussein, and I would have not given up so easily in looking for bin Laden.

I would have focused all the resources of this nation, and a larger chunk of change as a reward, to find the people actually responsible for that act. Don't you think $150 plus BILLION would have induced someone to rat him out. We could have avoided illegally invading another country as well, and not squandered all the good will from 9/11.

If off United States of America should never get involved in foreign matters. We should mind our own business that would solve a majority of our problems. If North Korea wants to invade South Korea our attitude should be :who cares" if Israel is attacked "who cares" that should be our motto. This mentality of having to be the world police should and must stop.
Second, I would not have started a war with Iraq. I would have put my focus on the capture of Osama bin Laden. and the money spent on this foolish war would have gone towards DOMESTIC matters such as rebuilding areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina and other important DOMESTIC matters.

well since 11 countries warned us that an attack was coming and we had no excuse for not stopping it i would start there
we were told the names and descriptions of 4 of them so i would have just stopped them there and not much would have changed from what things were before i might have gone into Afghanistan and i would then have waited for Iran to start it's **** and they would be flying a US flag by now
