Is always depressing, about idiots doing things to others.
Surely all it does is promote them?
Can be used for propaganda.
You can't change anything, so are we supposed to watch and gloat or something? Think how lucky we are etc?

To strike fear into every living being in the world and then if it's local news try and offset that by telling you the story of a duck that got trapped in fishing net and lost both it's legs but after being adopted by an old lady in a home is enjoying life in her bath or some other crap like that. Maybe instead of news they should have gossip or even better Chinese whispers!!!

What would happen if you didn't watch, listen, or read any news. Would anything significant change in your world?

Suppose you live somewhere where there are no radios, internet, TV, newspapers.

In such a world, does anything exist beyond your existence?

What is reported, and more significantly what is not reported, taints and controls your view of the world.

The internet removes some of that control, by allowing interaction rather than passive absorption.

Seems to me many days there is no news. So whatever depressing thing they can find is blown up to be big news.

In the 30's they once replaced the news with a music programme because nothing was happening, shame they don't do that today it might cheer us up!

Don't be depressed, we are just overloaded with news, switch it off sometimes and have a break.

Cheers

I do not read a newspaper, watch TV, or listen to the radio. If anything important happens, which is rare, I get to know, without the lies and distortions of the Press. What they say today, they retract tomorrow, but the damage is done.

When it comes to the news, I only skim the headlines and figure the rest out for myself. It is much more interesting and educational to just listen to everyone else that enthralls themselves in all the propaganda. I learn so much more because it shows what kind of world we really live in.

The point of news is to beat a story to death.

News is just a rehash of the rehash they've been rehashing all week.
