God is existence, life, knowledge, power, love, hope, imagination, beauty, justice, morals,.......
No one can completely describe GOD. GOD includes every thing. Nothing is compared to GOD. But anyone has at each moment some GODLY reflection(s) of any of:
knowledge, hope, power, abilities, creationism, love, .......
Every thing in the Universe is an image of one or more of Godly reflections.

Apparently, some people still think that God or religion is the cause of wars. See my response to this question. War is a fact of life. Not something that can be attributed to a religious belief. We have a choice; God gave us free will! How many wars were started by followers of christianity? Please be specific. None that I know of. Why don't you ponder this- cause and effect. Tolstoy, a christian by the way, inspired Ghandi who inspired M.L.K. who has inspired...that is the truth. Maybe you bash christianity just because George W. Bush is a christian; the terrorists, who were muslims, attacked us on 9/11 on our soil. What other reason do you need to go to war...you say there is no link between Iraq and 9/11...they housed terrorist training camps and contributed money to terrorist organizations...that is a fact. I am tired of all the bashing. This is the reason why the settlers of this great nation came here in the first place- to avoid religous persecution.
Give it a rest, it's here to stay whether you like it or not it's been around for 2,000 years. And another thing too, for you students of philosophy, you can't have more than one God, that is called a logical contradiction, it is impossible. Obviously, not everyone can be right. It is not open to your interpretation. At the same time I cannot prove that God exists. But you cannot prove that God does not exist! Do you understand intelligent design? If you were walking on a beach and you found a wristwatch, would you call that wristwatch an acccident. There are no accidents and there is no such thing as coincidence either, only the truth. Ask Einstein. Why don't you tell us what is credible then? The big bang theory- where the entire universe was compressed into an area the size of your fingernail! Or tell us about the missing links, which still haven't been found. Or about near death experiences. Give me all the reasons why God can't exist and I will give you all the reasons why he can. You can't mix all these ingredients together without a first cause, or first mover.

in response to one of the answers god gave us free will
yes we have free will
but how do you know god gave us free will? maybe the fact that we arent chained to a bed gives us free will, the mind gives us free will
we have free will but people have been prosecuted for years for their beliefs, so maybe apu believes in something else, whos right? none of you know so why ponder the questions that NOBODY knows thats like saying you know how the universe was created god sprinkled 4 cups flower 1 part pepper 1 part salt mixed well and threw it into a mass of nothing which took form into the universe. why dont you wait and find out and be open minded until you find out dont be in the confines of a certain religion, why dont you learn about many so you can know how someone else on this world feels about other topics

I do not believe in God as defined in the bible. I do believe that there is a greater force to the universe, and that we, as human beings, do not NEED to know what this greater force is. I also believe that even if this force were to reveal itself to us, we (again as human beings) would not be able to understand or comprehend it.
All religions have an icon they worship- Jesus, Buddha, etc... I believe that these are merely symbols put in place to help humans, with our tiny little brains, have some sort of physical manifestation of this greater force. But i think that NONE of these symbols or icons are the true representation. If mroe people would realize this, we would find that we all worship the SAME "god", just represented by different icons.

Islam calls humanity to the service of the One
Omnipotent Creator, Who is known as "Allah, " (The Deity) in the Arabic language. It further instructs people on how they may live together in peace and harmony regardless of race, class or beliefs. The unity of purpose brought by all previous religious guides is highlighted as well as traditional morality, the equality of the sexes before God and the virtues of patience and humbleness. Allah is great ..

Better question - I wonder what God thinks of us? Sometimes I think he must look down here and think "What was I thinking?" God has to have a sense of humor - have you seen the platypus?

If God exists, he probably ran off to another galaxy to forget about us and is trying to create a more perfect form of being. When he created our ancestors like the rest of the animals, he never thought in his wildest dreams that we would develop into the hideous species that mankind has turned into today.
Or why would he let most of humanity suffer and let a bunch of sinners control the world ?

I think that "God" was made up to make us on earth feel better about being here stuck for no real reason by man. If people want to follow it, go ahead. I think it is for the weaker humans, though, who can't come to terms with our reality and see that we just exist for no better reason than to exist. Some may view that as "depressing", but it's only as depressing as we make our reality.
