Found one in the dishwasher and now am afraid there may be more. Could it just be the one? What do I do?

It has been my experience that when you find one mouse in your house, there are probably more. Before you get an exterminator, set a trap near where you found the first one.

If you have pets, use one of those "humane" plastic traps like they sell at Walmart. They work great. Put a piece of cracker in it with plenty of peanut butter on it (that works a heck of a lot better than cheese).

When you look in the trap the next morning and there's a mouse with peanut butter all over his face looking back, you'll know the rest of his family and friends have moved in. If not, your probably mouse free. Good luck.

Very often there Will be more than one. The first thing is to find out how the mouse got in.Go all around the outside of your house looking and probing for any holes keeping in mind that mice can squeeze through a quarter-inch gap, and that they can climb. Seal the holes with steel wool or other suitable material depending on what sort of surfaces we're talking about. This first step is crucial to effective long-term dealing with the problem. Then as far as any that may be in the house use a combination of baits ( read the label) and traps. Go at them full- bore right at the beginning---the last thing you want is a population explosion of mice in your house.By this I mean don't skimp on traps and bait. A couple bucks wasted on baits that never get eaten sure beats the house being burnt down by a rodent chewing through a wire. Or someone getting sick. I hope the one you saw turns out to be the last one you see.Good luck

there is a mama and a papa, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, Plus more. Set traps, keep food secure. If you don't have any pets or small kids try a poison, make sure its something that will make them blind so they come into the light to die.

Usually, time to put the traps out, and look for the entry spots. Look about drains under your sinks, if you find holes there, fill them with steel wool to discourage gnawing.

I have always heard that, but I have caught just one mouse before, and had no more troubles

No, just one mouse doesn't mean more will come, but they might. That's why my advice would be: call an exterminator.
