Been there, done that. We don't have family even remotely close by and we don't know who to trust, so we trust no one. So hubby and I never considered anything we couldn't take the kids out to. So we've never hired babysitters. This year for our 10th we went bowling and out to dinner. It wasn't even remotely romantic, but I still loved it. And then we "celebrated" privately after the kids went to bed. I'd made up a little desert for us (I can't even remember what anymore, but one year I made chocolate dipped strawberries) and had a bucket with champayne. Either take the baby with you and say, go out to dinner (can still be fun for you two), or cook a nice dinner at home. Make something out of the ordinary you don't normally cook, something considered a luxury item. I was going to make steaks and baked potatoes this year, but hubby insisted we go out instead (so I wouldn't have to cook, which I do all the time). One year I set up a picnic on the floor for when our then oldest (and only at the time) was in bed. i had little finger foods like cheeses and fruit and a little chocolate dip to dip them in, and of course some wine (or champayne), and set up candles all around the living room. Use your imagination!
Good luck! Hope it's a great one!

what about in-laws?...well I suggest that even though it is your anniversary and you want to be alone..if you can't fine a baby-sitter then take the baby along...it doesn't hurt to celebrate the love you have for each other by bringing along the newest edition of the family...it will only make you appreciate life and each other more knowing that you brought such a beautiful child into the world....so happy anniversary to you and congrats on the new baby!!

Cook a nice dinner together while the baby is sleeping? Or order a take-out from your favorite restaurant.

rose petals on the bed, your favorite music on the radio, a dinner just for the two of you. put the little one to bed together, then proceed with your couples evening.

since this is your first baby why don't you make this your first family dinner out. You can listen to music later and just be together.
