There are ways to fool the lie detector. Some are easier than others. The simplest way is to make the results of the lied detector inconclusive. The lie detector works by monitoring certain autonomic functions, such as: skin conductivity, heart rate, breathing, pupil dilation...etc. Since these are autonomic functions, they occur without any voluntary actions on your part. For example, when you are running, your heart rate increases automatically. The same holds true for lying. When you lie, the previously mentioned bodily functions changes automatically. To fool the lie detector, you need to control these autonomic changes. The latter requires a great deal training and a disciplined mind. However, it is far easier to mess up the results. What do I mean by messing up the results? The lie detector test begin with some baseline questions. It is hot today? Are you wearing a black shirt? They give you questions that they know you will answer truthfully. Using this as a baseline, they know when you are lying because the results changes from the baseline. So, when they ask a baseline question, you answer truthfully but you voluntarily change your autonomic readings. So, they can't figure out when you are lying because the readings change regardless of when you are answering truthfully and when you are lying. The trick is to scrunch your toes (i.e. bend your toes) during a baseline question. By scrunching your toes, it changes your autonomic functions. Since they can't distinguish lies from truth, the test is inconclusive and you are in the clear. I hear these stories of how criminals wear the wrong size shoes purposely to fool the lie detector. They wear shoes two sizes smaller than they normally do. This mimics bending your toes and has the same effect.

Well the obvious one is tell the truth, but if you must lie and want it to be true, then breathe, relax, and make yourself believe that what your saying is indeed the truth. My dad once had to take a polygragh for work once when he worked security, and he knew the guys giving the test really well, so he decided he'd mess with them, well he answered "no" to everything even the answers he knew should've been "yes" and the guys were like Dave this cant be right, youve answered that your not human, are not male, female, or otherwise. So he got around it even though he was just joking around

the best way to pass a polygraph test is to know and believe that it doesnt work. the way they get the truth or lie is if u let them get to you by telling you that it works. no polygraph tests work, and none ever will work. i learned that in psychology today :-D

in the beginning, there's no such subject as a lie detector. don't get interior the habit of calling it that; it truly is a polygraph. Polygraphs degree actual reaction to specific questions with the intention to work out if the physique is experiencing combat/flight based on the questions. the thought is that a individual who's mendacity will journey stress while asked specific questions. yet polygraphs at the instant are not allowed as info in courtroom because of the fact, definite, they are in a position to be manipulated and rely to an exceptionally great degree on the guy examining the try effects. it truly is pseudo-technology. i've got crushed polygraphs without even truly attempting.

Don't show any strong emotions except conviction to what you are saying. If you can trick yourself into believing your lies - all the better. Stay calm and don't let your heartbeat speed up. That test mostly regulates heartbeat since liars are usually uncomfortable with their lies and even if they don't betray any outward emotion, the polygraph usually reveals their inner turmoil.

Learn to control your non-verbal, autonomic reactions that will kick in following questions such as sweating, heart-rate and other things otherwise almost impossible to control when pressured. The true key to passing a lie detector test is to NOT LIE.

Tell the truth. If you do lie, you can fool the test by believing your lie to be the truth.

You can clinch your butt muscles, this cause your blood pressure to spike. You have to do this with every question they ask you, even the ones they know you are answering truthfully, that way they can't determine which ones caused the spike in blood pressure.
