I love Green Day! I have loved them since 1994, back in high school! I still do. They have only gotten better! Sold out!?! What the hell do you mean, because they finally got recognized? I don't call that selling out. If they were selling there songs to Pepsi etc... for money, that would be 'selling out' just because they have their own record label now and stuff (cuz they actually have some money) does not make them sell outs!

Personally I don't think they did. They just started being noticed for their music and making money. They live in America where we are taught that money matters. It's stupid to say someone sold out for making money. Yeah their style changed but that is to be expected no one can do the exact same thing year after year it gets more refined as you learn what works and what doesn't or you point of views change. I believe the only way an artist can sell out is if they do something completely against their beliefs for fame and money... which they haven't. So I say no they haven't sold out.

Yes And No Greatest Band Of All Time In my Op. But to the punk sceene in the 80's yeah but come on lookout! couldnt keep up with there popularity it was only right the broke the mould and punk bands can now become big w/out selling out provided they dont forget there roots , the song 86 talks about how they were rejected from the cali sceene but in the end ...

No green day have never sold out and they rock! their albums are better than any of this rap crap etc. and well they rock. i have never heard of a better band so why do people always ask these questions? green day have never sold out and i am a huge fan of theirs.

one thing i want everyone to understand is greenday was NEVER punk so in the sense did they BECOME pop punk well no because they already were the only thing now is that the emo kids think they're 'punk' cause the dudes say they're a punk band cuz 'when i come around' is soo edgy anyways no they couldnt have because they never were a really credable punk band they always had catchy melodies and **** like that its just that in pop culture the movement changes emo' used to be a sub cat of alternative now its all these sappy pasty assholes who sing the same sh it again and again and endorse hot-topic AND abercrombie because its 'cool' ne wayz sorry to rant greenday never real always commercial just havent been selling lately so they did not sell out
