From my understanding its normally 14 days after the 1st day of your cycle but that's for a 28 day deal. And if your cycle is anywhere between 29-31 days your ovulation can occur some where between 15 and 17 days later. If you go to mymonthlycycle.com it can help you figure our what days you ovulate and when your cycles are expected to start.

PS: It also has a lot of different calculators to use to figure out various things.

Every female is different but females usually ovulate about 14 days after the start of their period. This is for women that generally have a regular 28 day cycle. Women that have irregular cycles can ovulate at various times. The best thing to do is to get an ovulation detector kit. Usually around ovulation your basal body temperature will rise and you will have a whitish stretchy type discharge.

I believe that you are most likely to ovulate 15 days after the first day of your period, so if you consider your period as being about 5 days, you should try to conceive during the next 10 days after that.

It's actually ovulation that determines when your period comes, not the other way around. Most women ovulate 12-16 days *before* their period and within individual women, this rarely varies by more than a day.

The 14 day theory is only for 28 day cycles. Because the 14th day is the same if your'e counting 14 after your last or 14 before your next. But if it's longer than 28 days then count 14 days before you're due for your next. Sorry if this is confusing. If youre trying to conceive then good luck. If not, then stay indoors during the 15-17 days of your cycle =)

Fourteen days is the norm. I've posted a couple of sites below to help you track when you are ovulating.
