My wife is 24 and she says periodically that the middle of her chest (her heart she thanks) feels like someone is stabbing it, she said she does not experience shortness of breath or any other pain in her body except in the middle of her chest on the left side!
Could it be anxiety or stress?
She is scared to go to the doctor

Could be Angina Pectoris. Nothing serious (yet), but do take her to a doctor.

It could be angina or it could be a muscular thing. A doctor of course would be the best thing. I don't know why she is scared. Isn't she scared about having pains in her chest?
Anxiety of stress would probably give her a few more physical problems than the occasional stabbing pain I would think.

Scared or not... you need to just pick her up and take her to the ER.. not the doctor, but the ER !

i would deffinatly go 2 the doctor right away because that sounds serious
