Jimi Hendrix was the king. The casual sexual encounters of the day were awesome! These were pre aids days and the only STDs you would catch could easily be cured with an antibiotic or special shampoo. The Vietnam war divided the country and music brought it together. We landed on the moon and lost a great president. Young people banded together to protest the Vietnam war and were instrumental in making the government understand how unpopular the war was. The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show was a turning point for music and culture in the U.S and the world. I'm glad I lived through the 60s. It was a time of turmoil and change that I'm glad I was part of.

I was just a kid, but as I recall: Lot's of rioting and protesting, two Kennedys assassinated (JFK, and RFK), Viet Nam war, hippies with long hair, and crazy colored clothes, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Doors, All the British Invasion groups, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Ravi Shankar, Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, Addams Family, Flintstones. How's that for a start?

It was a time of social changes : Civil Rights Movement, Women Liberation. The decade saw three major assassinations : John and Robert Kennedy, and Martin Luther King. An opinion: best music decade ever!

After Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968, you could only drive in certain Chicago black neighborhoods with your headlights on as a sign of respect. If you did not, you may get your windows broken or worse. Very uptight time.
