Every night, just as I start to dream, maybe 10 minutes or so after closing my eyes, I'm awakened, just as if someone had slammed a door in my room, tho there is no sound or actual disturbance, I'm just jolted back awake. This happens at least three times every night. After at least three times, I go to sleep as usual and sleep undisturbed. This started happening about six months ago and I can count on it happening every night! It really scared me at first, but I've learned to expect it now. Just wondering what the cause might be, or if anyone else experiences this?

There are conditions such as sleep apnea which can cause a person to wake from their sleep. My suggestion, go see a doctor.

Sounds like you're not actually asleep yet. It takes a while to get to the stage of sleep where you dream. You are probably psyching yourself out now. You begin to drift off, then something, some little thing awakens you. Now you are basically programmed to do this all the time.

Try meditation before bed or to get to sleep.
