He is the only other captain that has been to the worlds end & the worlds end is the next pirates of the caribbean movie where they hope to find jack sparrow alive. There are 3 Pirates of the Caribbean....2 and 3 were actually filmed at the same time. Wait for 3 to come out and check out www.imdb.com for further info on the movies.

Yeah, he's alive...thanks to Tia Dalma.
Didn't you notice Barbossa's boots in Tia Dalma's house the first time Jack/Will and crew went there to talk to her?
I've read the script for 3.....it's gonna RAWK!

My guess is, either he made some kind of deal with Davy Jones, or he knows a way to escape from him.

In the first movie, someone says that "Barbossa was so evil that Hell spit him out." So that could be your answer.
Or, maybe Tia Dalma brought him back to life.

because they can do that! but really...i don't know why!!! all i know is that the monkey is still alive because he took a piece of aztec gold at the very end of the first movie.......i guess you'll just have to wait til the 3rd one to know for sure!!!!! ;)
