I can't believe some of the insensitive **sholes on this question! My mom had a house fire and lost everything a couple of years ago. People were pouring in offering things for her. Try making them a meal. Go to garage sales for them if you don't have a lot of money to buy new stuff. Help them write lists of what they need and want. Put an ad in the paper asking for donations, make a flyer asking for donations, put up coffee cans at the gas station, grocery store check out lanes. If you have any pictures of them, it would mean a great deal to have them copied and make a photo album for them. Do some of their running around for them, if someone calls and would like to donate something for them. They will be so grateful to have wonderful and loyal friends like you to help them in this great time of need. We could all use a friend like that!

The Red Cross, and the Salvation Army, is a start, because they have brochures, that can give you more ideas, and things that the ordinary person who has not been in that situation. Try and find resource for them to get help. May be you can help with the insurance papers, a hot meal, Let her know however she needs you, you will be their for her.

This same thing happened to my mom a year ago.. The fire started in the kitchen and 3 of her dogs where killed. I just went to visit her and she is still devastated by the tragedy. The one thing she kept saying is how thankfull she is that her friend let's her cry, talk, laugh about it..ie.. you are their healing ground... Keep being a good friend!!! God Bless

Spread the word to other friends, neighbors, community and church members. Collect gift cards - Target, AmEx, Home Depot. Then, they can get what they need to rebuild.
The loss of the dogs is just awful. I don't think there is anything you can do on that front.

Has anyone contacted the Red Cross? They are an amazing help in a time like this...contact neighbors, friends and family for any help you can gather. Try contacting your local WalMart, or Target - I've seen them donate items for families in this situation. Pool your resources and offer them places to stay, clothing, toiletries items, etc...
Good luck and I applaud you for being there for them at this time - you are what friends are truly about...

If your friends were killed in the fire, just go to the funeral and bring flowers.
If it was just the dogs who were killed, invite the friends to stay for a few months 'till they can sort out their lives.
