This sounds like a question that was asked after you were supposed to have read a chapter in a Math book. I'm just taking a wild guess that you did not read that chapter and you just want the answer to the question. There are several different names for the x and y values in a cartesian plane, and there's no guarantee that anyone's answer on here will be what your book is looking for. It's easiest just to read your book.
