It could be just a blown fuse or it could be problems with the electrical system. Get the car manual and check the fuses (always start with the cheaper possible source of the problem first).

you could take your voltage meter and check to make sure theres power to your door lock switch, if there is, take a jumper wire from power source to doorlock solenoid.

definite I lock it distinctive the time through fact I actually have a double lined German shepard dogs . inspite of having A/C in my room he is going to open refrigerator & take a seat infron of it .could be he gets extra cooling effec from it.

Check your fuses. Do both switches (drivers/passenger sides) do same thing?
