every high profile case attracts wannabes like that. Next best thing for some people if you are never going to be famous . Some people have issues like that. Have you been fantasising about being infamous also?

His family said he was obsessed with the case. And he is a pedophile & going through a sex change procedure. Maybe obsession & an influx of female hormones trying to override his male hormones were the final straw that caused him to flip out. I think he wanted the attention.

Because the minute you say, "nobody could possibly be THIS weird", nature provides a better idiot. I think he's a confused, mentally disturbed individual who has perhaps convinced himself he's responsible.

i feel that he wanted his 15 minutes of fame or angered some heavy guys in the orient while there and needed a safe way out of the country..

I don't think he lied about anything. The only quote I have heard attributed to him was "It was an accident". He never said he was involved in any way to the best of my knowledge.

IIRC he was facing prison in Thailand. Prison in Thailand is MUCH worse than prison in the US.

If I was facing prison in Thailand I'd confess to almost anything to get back to the States!
