the workers... it would be the African American slaves, but also many immagrants that have come over the last 230 years of all ethnicities. Everyone has played a part in the development of the United States.

I am an American Indian but the constitution built America and it was not the Indian's who saved it or people in fleshly wars who save that constitution but people with courage and faith not in mankind's waring ways, see what I mean at this website:
http://geocities.com/squeakywheel4peace
And click on my name (Peace and S)-ecurity and see how zealous I am at trying to make that known globally! And hoping people will pick up on it and go with it with a positive attitude and think about ways it can and will work if ALL the negative attitudes are put aside for just a little while. Than think about it big time after that. GOOD IDEA?

America?
Are you asking about North and South American continents?
The United States of America as a political entity, economic entity, infrastructure?
Your question is too vague to be meaningful.
The continents were created by volcanic and tectonic activity.
The policitcal structure of the U.S.ofA. was taken almost entirely from the Roman by the continentla congress.
The infrastructure of the U.S. was build primarily by workers during the great depression as a job creation program of the federal government.

Queen Victoria! She went there on holiday, saw it was in a frightful mess, and started digging away herself. She built the Whitehouse, the Empire State Building, and the Chrysler Tower. She also turned the Mississipi from a small puddle into a big river, though the locals objected to her calling it 'Little Thames'.

you should learn history Mortilyn. slaves came here on dutch ships in mid 1600's and were freed after civil war 200 years late. And they were mostly in the south. The people who established this country - the laws, the government, the systems of commerce, the infrastructure, every major corporation and pracrtically every invention, were white Europeans. By the way, the country is named after an Italian guy for a reason.
