I'm a freshman in college, and my roomate is not the best. (thats the nicest way to put it). She's not a clean person, she leaves her trash everywhere as well as her dirty dishes. She's rude and inconsiderate of the fact that im in the room too. For example, if she has an early class one morning and I don't have one till 12, she'll get up and start making a lot of noise.Throwing things around, slamming books. She does the same when she comes in late from her partying and im sleep. She has also taken up most of the space in the room, which makes me crazy!
Finally, i share a bathroom with my roomate and two other girls, (its a suite-style dorm), and the bathroom is disgusting! The sink is full of God-knows-what, the shower floor is also very gross, as well as the toilet. I am at a huge disadvantage because I feel like I'm the only one who wants it clean.

-oh yeah, I'm not a very outspoken person. I'm shy and don't like confrontation. With that in mind please help!

anyway you can move to another dorm, or what does the resident advisor say? you can play pranks, but that can backfire on you.

best thing is to just sit down with her and talk to her. tell her your frustrations. if sheis cool then she should at least make an effort to change her ways. but, having dealt with slobs before, no real way to fix it unless you DO become confrontational. if it bothers you that much then have a little pow wow with the other girls. don't make it JUST about the bathroom but sit down and order a pizza or something and just talk. then bring up how disgusting the bathroom is and get a feeling for how the others think. maybe you can make up some sort of cleaning schedule between the two rooms. If it gets REALLY bad then you can go to the housing administrator and ask for a change or rooms or something is you simply cannot stand the living arrangements. I had roommates that wouldn't flush after taking a dump, then would close the lid.......you can imagine how that little meeting went. either way, step out of your skin for a bit and level with the other girls. if they think you a prissy bi*ch bcuz of it then oh well, can't win them all you know? at least you'll have some dignity

I would confront your roomate. You might not like it but you have to do something. Tell her since you are sharing a room with her than she needs to be respectful of your stuff and not take over. If she doesn't like it when she isn't there one day re-arrange things and tell her that you need your space and it's only fair. Ask to be moved by your dorm advisor or see if you can switch with someone. As far as the bathroom goes - good luck. I can't stand to see a messy bathroom so I feel for you.

Move.

Unless you want to not be a shy and non-confrontational person. Your roomate probably knows this and takes advantage of you.

Another idea is to become really good friends with her...hang out everywhere with her, get her to really like you...this way she will be more considerate to you.

Well if you dont want confrontation you could ask to change rooms. Although at some point you are gonna have to stand on your own 2 feet. Tell your roomates about your concerns. If they dont listen to you talk to your R.A. See if they have any other advice, or have them talk to your roomates for you.

I would just simply move out and find myself a better roomate. Did you ever think that your roomate might be doing this on purpose so that she can have another friend to move in with her? think about it....

Go to the RA and ask for a room transfer. Normally they can arrange something.

either you are going to have to speak up or you will have to move. is moving an option? maybe just sit down with her and tell her what you are not liking and see if she will work with you to fix the problems
