Good for you! Forget what your friends think. They will be sorry when they are pulling C's and D's and are pregnant while you are pulling As and Bs and earning scholarships. You're still young, you have your whole life ahead of you. Boys should be the last thing on your mind.

Love finds you when you're not looking. I don't know how old you are, but grades are a big deal when it comes to schooling later on in life. I didn't focus on my grades as I should have, and the colleges wouldn't offer me scholarship money, even with an ACT score of 25.... that just assured me admission at some colleges. Now I'm paying the price, because college is soooooooo expensive when you pay for it on your own!! When the time is right, you'll have a boyfriend... so don't listen to your friends if they pressure you. Are your grades better than Kyms? Is she anywhere near as serious about school as you are? Chances are, she's a bit envious of your drive and dedication, but keep it up! With an education you can go far, and chances are the men you meet along the way will be like minded and just as driven as you! Explain to Kym the importance of education to you, and if she's really a good friend, she'll understand.

I was the same way in highschool and for the first two years of college. I am completely committed and focused on my studies, and there was a part of me that was not entirely ready for a serious relationship with someone. Now this isn't to say that highschool relationships are serious--however if it is your first real relationship it will by default be serious and meaningful. I am 22 and the longest relationship with a guy has been 3 months but to be honest I wasn't really on the market until recently. I finally found comfortability with school, work, and friends and now my social life is really booming. I have a lot of potential boy/girl friends to choose from. Keep your options open girl and hang in there. Have you ever considered why your friend feels it necessary to have a boyfriend. Some people can't stand to be alone--they are in constant need of companionship which is fine but doesn't mean it's for everyone. Besides and take this if you take nothing else---waiting to have sex has been the best decision of my life--all my friends are jealous because I have a much greater drive than them, because I've waited. They had it in their late teens with someone that they didn't end up staying with and the "glamour" wore off fast. Anyways good luck and hang in there.

Your friend might end up with 12 kids by the time she is 20 , and you will go to college and end up a Dr..... seriously, boys are overrated. Wait til they are men and you are a woman. You are perfect the way you are, don't be pressured into anything. In a few more years you will still have your education...but you and Kym might take different paths and you may not even know her anymore. Focus on your grades, make your parents proud (not Kym).

Don't cave in to the pressure. You said you're not ready and I applaud you for knowing yourself well enough to realize that. Besides, years from now, when your friend is stuck in a loveless marriage to some dirtbag, saddled with 3 kids all under the age of 5 and living in a trailer park because she was more interested in boys than in grades...you just might be going to an Ivy League university and driving a BMW!

well if yer not ready then yer not ready simple as that, but if yer worried about yer grades then dont be bcuz i have a boyfriend who i am in love with, and i still get a' and b's it really isnt' that hard to balance school with yer love life bcuz if nethin u will get a boyfriend who cares about school just like u, so he SHOULD be focused on school too, but yeah i mean it it only hard if u make it hard. SERIOUSLY but if u dont' want a boyfriend then just tell yer friend kym to leave u alone about that subject that u obviously don't want a boyfriend at this time. and that is good if u feel the need to focuz more on yer school work. But i mean i balance it out they both get my attention!!!!! but if yer someone who can only concentrate on one thing at a time, then focus on yer school work. there will alwayz be time for a relationship, durin summer or when yer out of highschool
GODDAMN II SOUND OLD LMAO i am only 16 HMMM maybe i should stop answerin questions lol

That is a good thing to want to do well in school and keep up your grades, but if your friend was a true friend she wouldn't be pressuring you into something you don't feel ready for. That is a decision that is completely up to you and nobody else.
If you really don't feel ready, then don't. Depending on how old you are you probably still have plenty of time to have fun in your teenage years.
Do what you think is right for you.

Tell kym if she wants a boyfriend to get one and leave you alone about it!! She isn't your FRIEND if she won't understand!! You are much smarter than she is and I'm proud that you want to get educated!! You should be proud of yourself!! Now just stand up for yourself and you'll have it made!! Keep up the good work, you'll have an easier life than she will!!!

I made that mistake, and I've realized that while having friends is important, your education is more important, and it'll most likely outlast any friends you make in school, especially boyfriends. Guys usually just end up making you forget about school, and they usually just hurt you in the long run. When I was in school, I was focused on my grades too, then my friends introduced me to a guy, and we started goin out, and he was so sweet. I dtarted skipin school to hang out with him and I ultimately dropped out. After that, he started controllin me and hittin me. Now, I'm 18, and I don't hang out with any of my old friends and I regret letting those people pressuring me into something I didn't want to do. You are your own person and if you don't want to do somethin, then don't. Your friends do not know what's best for you, only you do.

When you're a doctor saving lives and driving a BMW, Kym will be barefoot, pregnant, and still stupid. Tell Kym she's an idiot and stay focused on your grades.
