I recently left a city that I loved for family reasons. It's supposed to be temporary. So, I've signed on with a few temp agencies so I can work to earn the money to go back. It's been a month and NOTHING. I'm still applying for other jobs. I have plenty of marketable skills. I just want to go back! How long before they contact you? Is it harder in the summer?

Contact them, call and ask them quite often if they have anything for you. Sometimes they won't call you, the ones who call are more likely to get the jobs.

I did a lot of temp work right out of college, and I never went more than a week without a job, so a month without work doesn't sound right. Have you called the agencies regularly to remind them you're looking for work?

You might also want to find a new agency. To increase your chances of getting work, call a couple of the big companies in town and ask their HR people which temp agencies they use. That should help you find a busy temp agency with a good reputation.

I work at a temp agency and it all depends if they have any available positions in the type of field you want to work. If you haven't heard from them in a month I would call them back to make sure they remember you. Happy job hunting.

I have literally had a new assignment in a few hours, and with in a few days - but never more than a week. What agency are you using? Don't limit it to just one if you don't feel good about your chances!

Well, it depend on what kind of work you are looking for, your skills, and how high you score the assesement test. Generally , the higher your test scores the better , and you can get better pay. I suggest looking in to working in retail until something else happens, they always need help.
