Because they are all the same. The same jokes, plot twists, the guy always gets the girl, etc., etc., etc.! It's really all predictable and I believe that is the main downfall. Why am I paying to see this movie when I already know what's gonna happen? I have predicted movie endings for a very long time now. I'm tired of it. I like independent films better.

Because Hollywood is about business, not art, so they make movies that they think will appeal to the broadest possible audience. They aren't trying to make a "good" movie, they are trying to make a movie that the largest number of people will be fooled into paying to see.

Because people still pay to see them.
A lot of movies are truly horrible *cough *cough White Chicks, anything with Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Will Farrel, Rob Schneider, Little Man, etc.
But a lot of people find these movies amusing, so, blame the movie going audience, and their lack of taste.

Because Hollywood doesn't see film as art it sees film as business, an industry, and the bottom line is making money.
