Ammonia? Vinegar? Salt? Or what? I'm trying to age a tin. I don't think the metal is actually tin. Thanks.

salt water should work, if you put it in a warm place it's going to go faster than if it's cold.
If it's a tin can, it is still with a thin layer of an anticorrosive material (usually tin or plastic) on top of it. If it's tin you could use sandpaper to get a bit of it off, to expose the steel so it will rust faster. If it's plastic (usually only on the inside) you could burn it off, easiest would be if you have access to a small propane torch or something like it. Though the fumes of burning plastic are unhealthy, so definitely an outdoor project.
