My skin is extremely dry. Every lotion I use, I have to apply - reapply numerous times. It was suggested to me to use baby oil in my bathwater, but I'm not sure what measurements to use? I was thinking a couple squirts, but I'm not sure. (I'm pregnant, by the way.) Also, my feet are extremely dry as well ... I'm just dry all over! Any suggestions?

I've used aloe vera, nivea AND lubriderm. Still dry.

Hormones can do this...and being pregnant, I can understand your dilemma. Many friends of mine have gone through this. Baby oil is a good start, but sometimes we just need a good shot of moisture to our skin inside; and out. I have found my friends found success by going through these steps:

1) Baby oil in the bathtub is good. A capful should help. But for extra moisture properties, add some milkbath to it as well. There are a sloo of baby products out there with milk protiens in it. Great for also helping you calm down and enjoy yourself for abit. :)

2) Once patted down with a soft towel (don't rub, this will promote further skin damage), apply a little more baby oil all over.

3) Then use a very emollient rich lotion that does not have alcohol in it. Look at the ingredients! This is highly important! Aveeno carries some great products, as well as your local health food store that are alcohol-free.

4) Drink water! Lots of it! Being pregnant, you need twice as much nutrients than you normally would not-being pregnant; and water is an essential nutrient we all need (and baby as well). Contact your physician to consult with the amount of water he/she suggests for your body type, situation, and pregnancy. Your basic 8 - 8 oz. glasses of water per day may not be enough for you.

You will have to do this everyday to keep your skin feeling better. But is a pampering session, so indulge and enjoy yourself! :)

Yes...my skin is very dry, too. It was especially dry when I was swimming year round in the winter. Baby oil could work, but if you don't like the smell, any other kind of oil would work as well. I love the smell of Neutrogena Body Oil in Light Sesame Formula. Use about 4 or 5 tablespoons per bath. Also, don't use hot water...it is more drying to the skin. Another tip is to take showers/baths as least often as you can since water dries the skin out. When you do, keep them relatively short. Put on a moisturizer like Cetaphil over your whole body after bathing to keep your whole body smooth. One of the solutions I have is that every time I get in the shower, I wash what needs to be washed regularly (underarms, etc.), but since my upper arms are really dry and bumpy, I only wash those with soap (Dove unscented) every once and a while...it's not like they get really dirty. For the foot issue, I would suggest that either take a bath at night or soak your feet in warm water-it'll help them absorb moisture. Then, bring in a pair of thick socks and a creamy moisturizer or lotion. Eucerin (not the pump kind, but the kind in the tub) and any lotions with shea butter are extremely moisturizing and should work. After patting your feet dry, apply lotion so there is a pretty thick layer, but so it's still mostly rubbed in. Put the socks on, and go to sleep. Your feet will feel baby (no pun intended ;) ) soft in the morning. Do this as often as needed. If your feet are as dry as they sound, you should probably do this every few nights (2 or 3 times a week). Good luck, and congratulations on the baby!!

Take a bath in baby oil( a couple capfuls to a warm bath) and when you are done, moisturize, moisturize, moisturize with a body cream, not a lotion. Lotions are more water and a cream is more concentrated to keep moisture in and absorb better instead of evaporate. Try a soap stone for your feet, carefully and not too much. I do mine with a rich body soap and a little at a time, then lotion up with body CREAM! Bath and Body works carries creams.Best to do it at night so your body can take advantage of the lack of movement and absorb it .
Is it dry in your house? A dehumidifier will help, or even a tea kettle on the stove adding steam to the air, will help.

Okay, for the face you might want to switch cleansers. I typically use proactiv, but when I get sun and my skin gets dry it helps when I use Olay foaming face wash for sensitive skin. For the feet my legs and feet get pretty dry and when I use Johnson 24 hour mostrizer it works. Also St. Ives has really good lotion =)

After getting wet, use a spray bottle to spray baby oil on. Then rub it in. Lay back in warm(not hot) tub and kinda roll around in the tub. Pat (do not rub) dry. You will see a slight improvement in the tightness of your skin immediately. You can also use the spray bottle method in the shower. P.S. You really should take showers after your second trimester.

a small amount of Vaseline. Right after a shower, before toweling off.

as for baby oil in the bath, just generously apply it to your skin and relax in the bath.

congrats by the way!

I would first suggest drinking lots of water. It's good for your skin and for the baby. Then, invest in aloe gel or an aloe plant. It does wonders for the skin.
