Very tough call... I think I'd have to go with "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath. Yeah, it's not what people today would call "metal," but its style for the time shook the scene up, and created a sound that had never been heard before. And with that, the beast was permanently out of the cage, so to speak.

you know what i'm going to go with black sabbath 'war pigs' i love the energy of that song dark and biting-and yess black sabbath is heavy metal the grandady to the new kicks we call heavy (iced earth, meshugga etcc)
