Tim Howard - all the hype that surrounded him was unbelievable and all for nothing.
Luke Chadwick - Again a lot of hype that he was the future of Man Utd...where is he now?
Heskey - players love him apparently...why?

David James.
He fumbled while playing for Liverpool but remained very much a first choice, fumbled so often when he started for England after David Seaman retired that he was dropped for Paul Robinson. Right now even with all that years of experience under his belt, he's not doing that much better for Manchester City.
For a big guy with big hands, he always seem to have problems holding on to the ball.
David Beckham.
When he was with Manchester United, his crossing, long passes, deadballs and set pieces were second to none, so people overlooked his limitations as a player.
When he went to Spain, all his flaws showed up. He had no strength to make up for his lack of pace. He couldn't dribble. He had poor defensive abilities. He commits fouls or comes up empty more often than win the ball when he goes into the tackle.
And by virtue of his popularity, he was made captain of the national team when there are clearly more suitable candidates.

Well to be an overated premiership player, the majority of ppl. have to rate him highly based on his performances in the premier league.
Kezman - Bad in the Premier league, rated badly.
Lampard - Good in the league rated good
Cole - Good in partnership with Yorke.
I think its Alan Shearer, the reason for this is although he was a good player, he was thought to be a GOD in Newcastle and therefore rated VERY highly. And I don't believe his ability or his performances warrented that level of worship as even Henry doesn't et that much at Arsenal.
As for a non-controversial answer I'd go with Robbie Fowler, or David James
Another player would be Darren Anderton, I played on the same team he did as a kid and he is still sh**e today.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the most overrated player i have seen, he might go on to prove me wrong as Fergie don't make many mistakes but all the hype over this player because he does 20 stepovers and then falls over is amazing.
