Hair, claws, fingernails and hooves are made of something. I am trying to figure this out and I cant seem to find what it is. The book doesn't mention it exactly.
Could be; keritin, but i'm not sure.

So far, most of the replies include an aspect of the correct answer. To put it in simple words: the word 'fingernails' usually refers to nail plate which is what we think of when we say nail, the hard and translucent portion, composed of KERATIN. Fingernails and toenails, which are made of PROTEIN and are a form of modified hair - both hairs and nails are DEADTH material. (source: en.wikipedia.org).

Hair and fingernails incorporate fairly a lot of a protein named keratin. you're acceptable once you assert that neither are fairly alive. as a result there isn't any thank you to actualy nourish them while they have been made. Nourishment can whether effect their high quality mutually as they are being secreted.

I know that fingernails are made of dead skin cells buildup. The more skin cells you lose the longer your nails get.
