Your body does not heal onto jewelry, the reason it sticks is because your not properly soaking and cleaning it. The crusties. You could try leaving it out for an hour but I personally wouldnt, I doubt it will close completely but it will shrink and this is going to make putting any new jewelry in difficult if not impossible. Odds are your going to damage your fistual (the thin tube of skin that holds the jewelry) trying to force the new piece in. The redness and bleeding likely is just from you catching it on something, and not the jewelry-unless you had externally threaded (the threads were on the bar not the ball) jewelry in which case these could've caught and tore the skin-external jewelry is considered bad, and shouldn't have been used to pierce you with-if it was. You need to start doing warm sea salt soaks using 1/4tsp to 8oz water for 10min 2x a day. The area is already angry so use of alcohol or peroxide is going to make things worse unless there is a sign of infection these things should be avoided at all costs and even if an infection is suspected you should apply a diluted amount of tea tree oil, a natural antiseptic which can soak into the skin and attack the infection/pus-peroxide and alcohol cant do this, they only work on surface areas. Tea tree oil can be bought in your pharmacy's first aid aisle.

It may never close up. Some don't. Some have the opposite problem of the hole healing so quickly it pushes the ring back out. You can leave it for an hour or two, but no longer than four. If you heal fast, it'll start getting difficult to put back in. As it is, the hole might have started healing around the barbell you had in, and when you took it out, the new skin around it ripped. If that's the case, keep it clean, and you'll be fine. Make sure you put in a good ring, though. Either one new and untouched, or one soaked in something antiseptic. Preferably surgical steel. With an open hole like that, you don't want to risk infection. So NO costume stuff until it's well a truly healed. And, as I said, sometimes they never do.

I must tell you that my navel ring did take a little over a year to completely heal..I only know this because after a few days of not turning it, the ring I mean- the skin of the piercing used to still stick and it would sometimes heal onto the metal. I do remember this clearly because I wanted to change the ring earlier than a year, but had to wait for it did take a while for it to completely heal.
I would not keep a ring out for any amount of time if your piercing is still raw and bleeding, for it may close fairly quickly.-but would want a professional opinion on putting it back in.
and have known also that the piercings in this area closing quickly even after years of having a ring in.
I would first cleanse the area with some peroxide and then go back to the place of business where you first got pierced and ask their advice.
good luck!

there'll probable consistently be a smaller hollow there. The longer that the floor is saved open by using the piercing, the fewer threat that it will ever heal a hundred%. evaluate your self fortunate that in case you ever pick to place the navel back in you are able to.

My ring has been out for 3 years and it is still a hole. I was told it doesn't heal 100% but only 60. So don't expect for it to closeup, it probably wont!!

An hour or so will be fine.
It would probably heal up pretty well in 2 or 3 weeks.

It won't ever close completely -- just fill up with scar tissue, but that will take a few weeks.
