Yes, there is a condition called Hyperemesis gravidarum, in which the morning sickness is quite severe and the mother cannot retain anything (nor does she feels like having anything to eat). The it could also happen because of too much anxiety and too much associated work (stress).

In the first few weeks of pregnancy some women do actually loose weight, my friend was one of these women. Later on in the pregnancy though I'd be seriously worried if I started to loose weight. I'd go and see a doctor

The only reason some women loose weight is if they are really sick with morning sickness. But most doctors will give you something to keep things down so that you do not loose weight.

In the beginning it's normal to lose weight because of all the morning sickness. But it's not healthy to lose weight later on in the pregnancy .. I'd say after the 1st trimester.

Yes, they do. I lost over 40 pounds with my first. As I am not exactly small to begin with, the doctor was fine with it as long as the baby showed growth and I was managing to eat something. I ended up delivering at 20 lbs below my pre- pregnancy weight. If you are losing weight and can't afford to lose weight, your doctor may suggest dietary changes or supplements

Yes, my wife actually lost 10 pounds when she was pregnant. It had no affect on the baby especially since he's now a healthy normal 2 yr old hellion.

It's normal to lose weight due to morning sickness. It happened to my sister in law. She still ate and took her vitamins as usual and gained weight like a balloon after the sickness subsided.

I did...I was overweight to start...so when I got pregnant I could only gain 10-15 lbs. I watched my diet very carefully, and managed to lose 10 lbs. Perfectly ok with my Dr
