I don't get why you need to lose points if you ask a question... there's no answer if there isn't a question first!

I don't think they "discourage" it --- But I see your point. . . I think!!
The whole point though is to share the knowledge -- share the wealth and maybe someone will learn something today.
Make the world a better place you know??
Hang in there -- Yahoo is not out to get us. . . Much worse forces are at work looking to REALLY penalize us. . . (as a whole nation)
Have fun at Yahoo -- and take the rest of world as seriously as you do the internet.

I've always felt the max for question should be a 2 point deduction. I do understand why answers should get more credit and questions should be a deduction, though

It is dumb isn't it, but I assume they don't want people going nuts asking questions all day either. There are some nuts out there, asking questions that are not appropriate anyway. I am sure it has something to do with that.

actually, your not losing as pany points by asking a question as you might think at first. you can earn points by picking a best answer and for voting for other peoples best answer. i just hate when they tell me i cant nswer anymore questions

lol. I see what you're saying. Maybe not as much of a catch 22 as a never-ending circle, like a whirlpool, ask, answer, ask, answer - let me out!!!!! lol.

slight catch at the beginning, but there are plenty of questions out there to answer at this point, and it prevents abuse.

well thank-you-never thought of like you are saying, but I think they do it to try to control the questions, but I for one like how its set -up, , except they let through too many nasty ones and the language abuse
