Actually, 2 pair of fingerprints ( and DNA) can match: identical twins would have the same DNA, which is more precise than fingerprints. But scarring and other factors could even affect twins' prints.

They don't claim that. They claim that no two pair of fingerprints are identical. Strangely, there is a difference between same and identical.
They are able to claim this because of the millions of prints they DO have on file, not one is identical to another one.

It's theoretically possible that two prints could be the same however it's probably a one in 60 billion chance or something. To say it's impossible isn't quite correct. And they don't have everyone's prints on file because it's against my civil liberties! I also don't intend to rob a bank anytime soon so there's no point in holding mine!

ok so if u and me have the same finger prints, and I come to your town to commit a murder, they catch you and throw you in jail.
Alot of people they have on file, parents who want their kids safe now a days are getting their kids DNA and finger prints put on file. And theres ALOT of criminals, they dont just find the murderer, robber, etc. right away. They finger print other people before they find out who did it. So yes no 2 finger prints are the same unless its on your own fingers then MAYBE but even then they can tell what finger it was from. Watch Forensic Files on Court TV, you will change your mind about finger prints

I'd be just as curious to ask if identical twins have the same fingerprints. What about quintriplets.
You got a point there.
They "say" it's true. (who are they?)
