I'm assuming you're inferring that many people take the opportunity at xmas to right their wrongs from the other 364 days of the year by being in a celebratory and cheery way with those they mistreated? Why not? Sort of like a tax free day where all debts and grievances are forgiven in the hopes that a new year will bring about a better person and/or relationship.

I think probably a lot of people don't know the actual origin of the X (or xp) as the case may be...
In reality saying Xmas is the same thing as saying Christmas. It's just a lot faster to write it.
Here's a basic blurb from Wikipedia about it:
Xmas (or X-mas) is an abbreviation for Christmas. It is derived from the word ΧΡÎΣΤÎΣ, transliterated as Christos, which is Greek for Christ. Greek is the language in which the whole New Testament was written.
Not really sure what you mean by amnesty...
travesty maybe is the word you want? I dunno

I don't. Xmas to me is making it special for my kids and seeing family that I haven't seen in ages. Besides the fact that it's a holiday.

because most people are hypocrits....most celebrate "xmas" but not the person. "xmass" is the reason i have become weary of people and their intentions. Sorry for being so negative, but hey...there's always groundhog day.
