What is the best way to fix a ps2 video game disc with scratches?

Once the scratch is there, the information encoded to the disc under that scratch is GONE. Hopefully this is small and doesn't disrupted the integrity of the game too much. Otherwise, put it in the next garage sale. I did just read in the current issue of Electronic House, about disc protector that snap on to the disc itself to protect it even while it is in the drive. They failed to mention where they can be purchased though.

depending on how deep the scratches are...........

believe it or not you can use toothpaste. just a small amount, applied to the scratched area. wipe it in with a soft cloth. wipe the area clean and dry. the toothpaste sometimes fills the scratches in enough so that the disc will still play.

I have had good luck with the Disc Repair goop they sell at Gamestop, but if the scratch is very deep you will have to hang it up.
