I live in Michigan and I'm looking to rent a car for a day. Which car rental place is the best? There's tons of big commerical ones, I'm sure I can get a good deal from one of them but I don't know how they treat you, how the policies are, how much it is...

Your answers are appreciated!

I have used Enterprise for about 8 years with no problems. I even use them when I fly and if the car I request is not available, I am always upgraded with no hassle(and no add'l cost). It depends on the individual dealer location, of course, but all in all, I will rate them a 4 1/2 out of 5, and only because the other 1/2 point is for the one I award to the travel agencies that has a package including the car rental thrown in. ( I like freebies;)
Good luck with which ever you choose.

Avis seems to have the best rates around here but it really depends on the city you are in. I have found Thrifty to be good and less expensive in a lot of other cities.

I have always had real good luck with Nationwide or Enterprise.

Budget is my favorite. Setup an account, you're in the fastlane.
