I still feel the same way I did a year ago. Those people were left there in the superdome WAY too long. Too much rape, murder, and torture going on in there!! I can not believe any team would ever want to play football in there again. That building should be burned!
And all those people left out on the streets for days, that was inhumane! There were dead bodies, terminally sick people, elderly.... and those people were just having to be right there with all of that in the scorching hot sun with no food or water for days. This is the US, always the first to step up and help other countries, but I guess this was just like anything else, they let their own suffer.
I know it was a massive situation but they should have done better. Everything else in the country should have come to a standstill while all available planes & helicopters were getting those people out of there!
But, politicians do not think like normal people.

Let me ask you this, when California slides into the ocean after years and years of predictions, and mount st helen blows and yellowstone, etc, is it the governments fault for not warning you for say about 50 years ahead of time now? If you don't want to be in the disaster or the area DONT FREAKIN MOVE THERE you cannot beat an earthquake, hurrican, or a volcanoe, YOU WILL LOOSE. Why is it people get blamed for it when they did not cause it? Why do our tax payers pay for it when they are smart enough to live out of the danger zone?
Sorry but they were warned wayyyyyy ahead of time and rebuilding it is asking for it to happen again and then they'll whine and cry that noone warned them 50 years ahead of time.
Bull crap
I hate to be mean but New orleans knew it was coming, I do feel bad for those in Mississippi and surrounding areas, but as far as being on the sea, or the shore, you know it's always a possibility, just as if you lived right next to mount st helen.

Because the liberal fascist media believes it will remind people of Republican failings.
Remember -
the media is out to destroy all things that are good, conservative, pro-American, and republican like our president, true democracy and capitalism.
Compare this media hype with the coverage of the world trade center bombings. On each of the anniversaries since 9-11, there has not been near as much coverage on the one year anniversary of Katrina.
Why?
Because Katrina coverage can use and abuse the poor victims of Katrina still mired in their dependency on their big government hand outs. And the media uses that as a tool to blame the president of poor handling of the situation.
The media wouldn't dare cover much about the world trade center disaster because that would only remind America of what those terrorists did to us five years ago and would remind America of why we have to keep fighting this war against terror.

I don't think it was the president's fault. I think it was the leaders of New Orleans. Nagin did nothing to help. He said "This is a mandatory evacuation. Everyone needs to leave the city." and what he should have said was "This is a mandatory evacuation! Everyone needs to leave the city! Everyone needs to try everything they can to leave!" Personally, I think he took a look at the poverty levels in New Orleans and thought "Eh, who cares. Let the poor stay and maybe the hurricane will kill them off."
It's sad, but that's what I think. It's a terrible situation and my heart goes out to all who were affected by Katrina.

George Bush has already said if it happens again, "you're on your own". Basically, the Feds don't want to help us and don't think we're worth saving in the event of disaster.
Why do we pay taxes ?
