Well, I just turned 18, and I also have started dating a 16 year old.... we've known each other for a while, and we both worked on a school play together and got to really know each other... She turned 16 before i turned 18, and we want to tell her parents that we're dating, and I want to get to know them.... The thing is (and Im not being stereotypical, Its a fact), They're/ she's Filipino, which means they could be really, really turned off by this, and I dont know what their reaction will be to me being 18... What should I do?

Have her introduce you to her parents and just be yourself. At the same time, you want to be repectful and polite. Give her parents the benefit of the doubt and put your fears behind you.

Just go for it anyway cause their reaction might not be as bad as you think or it could be as bad as you think. But you won't know unless you try first. Besides the most important thing is Manning up and doing the right thing which is getting their approval. That's a big step and even if they don't approve right away they may change their minds later. Mainly because you showed a level of matured which is something most young men don't at that age.

Yeah, be an adult about it and meet them. I'd be very leery of an 18 year old dating my 16 year old daughter but you'll be FAR FAR ahead if you do the right thing and be upfront and honest about what you want to do. They may throw you out on your butt, but they may not. Again, if she were in my family, there would be some stringent rules but I wouldn't forbid the relationship--especially if she were a good straight-up kid.

Tell her parents the truth if they find out later it will be just a bigger mess. Tell them the truth u really care for her and they might not like the idea at first but I'm sure they will like it better then not knowing. Good luck

im sorry but filipino women are all easy.
im pretty sure the parents will be happy about thier daughter dating an older guy. trust me my boss is filipino and she lets her daughter sleep around (as long as the guy has money), get high and she talks back to her mom a lot.

i think its a good idea to have the parents involved ( not too much of course) just because it shows that you honor them and that you are serious about the relationship. i like the fact that my boyfriend emails my mom once in a while.
shes not filipino though..there might me cultural differences
but if you let them know that you care about what they think im sure they will appreciate it.
good luck:-)

You go boy!! Now that's a real man stepping up to the plate. There should be more young men like yourself out in the world and you should be proud of yourself. Yes, go and meet her parents and tell them. They will respect you more for that. Let us know how it turns out.

I would let her talk to them first, then possibly "ask" them if you may date their daughter. Only so that they will feel like it is in their ball park and they are included. I would have more respect for the boy who had done it this way rather than assume that I would approve.

Approach it like an adult, being that you are now one... which... Happy Belated Birthday. Tell them how the two of you met and you would like to get to know her better. Also tell them that the reason you are coming to them with this is because you don't want to hide anything from them and would also like to get to know them as well as her.

You'll never know the answers to your questions unless you try. Go for it. Hopefully they will see what a great guy you are and accept you. Good luck!
