Two of my classes are in "danger" of being canceled but the professors are very vague on when we will find out if the class has been officially cancelled. How many weeks can we attend before they will not be able to cancel us?

It depends on the college. Take it from me, there are some politics and money involved. They usually have it written down somewhere, but often students can be left dangling for two weeks. I taught at a state university for thirty years and we had to let the students know in the first week if we weren't going to 'make' as they called it.

Doesn't it depend on how many people sign up?I took a class in summer that had six people(including the professor) and we stuck it out till the end.Sometimes only one person shows up and the professor still has to teach. My point is there has to be at least two people who NEED the class.
I also had a class where it was the middle of the semester and the professor broke her hips. The class was NOT cancelled.Instead the school added us to another class and although it was tough for us and the class AND the professor who now had double the work, our class technically wasn't cancelled. Talk to admissions and see what they say OR drop the class and join another for the same course. You CAN do that and it won't count as a dropped class in terms of FIN. AID

I have had a class canceled before the class was in session. Never heard of a class actually canceling totally while it has already been in session.
My guess, the only way that will happen is if, something major happens, like an illness with the teacher or if a student/teacher in the class dies (but typically if that happens the whole class gets a passing grade)
