It can vary from one mobile network to the other.

Some do give you the call for free whilst others don't, however in most cases none of them give you the call for free..this is because you are using your mobile, on their network to make the call.

You can actually dial a freephone number from any payphone for free and also your landline phone.

Nice question.

:-)

Normally, mobile operators charge you for 0800 numbers. This is to stop you from circumventing their charging system by using a phone card.

Most pay as you go calling plans charge you an extortionate rate during the day (e.g. 30p per minute), and if toll free numbers were free, you'd be able to get round it by purchasing a phone card.

Not necessarily I'm afraid. Some providers of 0800 numbers will allow incoming calls from mobiles free of charge, others won't.

No they aren't. They are charged at your mobile phone's contractual rate for standard rate calls. You are paying for the air-time. If I have to call an 0800 number, I get to a 'live person' asap and give them my mobile number and ask them to phone me right back.

I'm pretty sure it will depend on your service provider, but i know that T Mobile charges for 0800 calls.

It all depends on what network you are on and the particular 0800 number being called but in general there is a nominal charge.

For most Mobil phones, a call is a call in the usage of "air" time. Regardless of the actual charge a number has to those calling it, usage minutes are ticking away as you are actively using the phone.

No you pay a charge, due to some reason or other. So if you have a contract phone or pay as you go, you have to pay your network charge for a call to a landline, something like 40 pence per minute unless you have Vodafone stop the clock...
