WIthout a contract you can have your wages lowered. But the upside is that you can also have your wages increased beyond a set/agreed upon level.

Yes. In most cases, it's better to fire someone than lower their pay rate. Usually people aren't good for much after a pay cut.

Unless you're working under an employment contract that states otherwise, then yes. An employer can decrease your rate of pay as he/she chooses. Stinks, doesn't it?
