I am wondering if there is a word to describe the following: guilt felt by a person after a loved one dies, because he/she feels they didn't pray enough for the individual before they passed.

Leaving them thinking that if they prayed longer or harder, the loved one might still be with them.

the word is still guilt no matter how you slice it, but in this situation it is in verb form--in my opinon you are not guilty of anything but blaming yourself for something that is truly not in your hands; if you would have prayed more and that person died anyway then what you be saying now.

The only phrase I can think of that even comes close is "survivor's remorse" or "survivor's guilt".

Perhaps this phrase, or simply "remorse" is the word your looking for.
