If you actaully saw some of these game movie you wouldn't be asking such a question >.>
It just so happens that the game of the movie isn't good either. So i guess it all works out in the end.

I think that movies based on games are capable of doing well. For some reason they rarely do, because of directors/script quality/plotline etc. They want that movie out, while the game is still popular so it gets rushed, and is sloppy. Rarely are game movies as good as regular movies.
I actually liked Silent hill though. The effects were pretty top notch and I was creeped out.(not as much as the game, but still was)

,Depends. Take a recent movie for example, Silent Hill. Many avid players and fans of this game enjoyed the idea of the game coming to life in the form of a movie. However were disappointed when the characters and the story line were skewed.
While others enjoyed the presence of certain characters and ideas of the games.

Most movies that are ACTUALLY based on games do terriable. Sure some movies that have the same name as a game do fine but most aren't BASED on teh game. They just use the name to get sales.

"do good" how? Meaning they do well at the box office? or they stay true to the game? The Lara Croft movies did quite well at the box office, but as far as staying true to the game. . . well, that depends. One can say the same for Resident Evil.

they can...but most of the time they suck because someone is trying to cash in on a good movie by making a game out of it

SILENT HILL and the Tomb Raider movies....Also, I like Doom despite what the critics said.
Another good one was the Resident Evil 1.

Not necessarily. Tombraider was ok, Resident Evil wasn't bad. But Silent Hill sucked!
