Tarot cards are used as a form of divination. In reality tarot is a discipline that can be used in conjunction with any religion. This is because it use has nothing to do with religion. Many psychics use tarot in their practice. They are associated with Wicca only because alot of wiccans use tarot as a means of divination.
I have been using tarot cards for about 7 years now. They are my favorite form of divination. If you are interested in learning tarot and don't want to spend lots of money on buying books and taking classes try this website. http://www.learntarot.com/

Angels are not strictly Christian, and the Tarot dates back to historic Egypt. over the years, there have been many diverse interpretations of the playing cards, and there are countless variations. this is not strictly a Wiccan element. The Tarot could be extensively used through every person, religious or not. The Tarot is way older than Wicca. We Wiccans do not trust contained in the devil. truth is, the most extensively used card decks date waaaayyyyy back.

Many Wiccans use Tarot cards and some modern decks have been created with Wiccan symbology, but Tarot cards were around LONG before Wicca and are certainly not exclusive to Wicca. So... ah. No. and yet sometimes yes, but not really.

Yes they are associated with Wicca but not as something that has to be learned and used to be one
The Romanian Gypsies are the ones that started to give a bad name to those that used them.as they started using such things as lures to cheat people out of their money and valuables.
But the history of Tarot cards goes back even further than that.sometime between the discovery of how to make paper and the pyramids. before that there was the Sybil's and Norns. also astrology and pendulums to try and Divine the possible future. even before that the nature religions used the natural signs and water to scry with.
people seem to have always been trying to find a way to Divine what will happen if they follow a certain path in life.and how to change it if it looks unfavorable.

Many Wiccans use the Tarot as a chosen form of divination. Others may not do any form of divination, some use Runes, others skrying mirrors or crystal balls, others skry in flames and others use palmistry or their intuition.
Wicca and Tarot are connected, but only in as much that Wiccans may use the Tarot. Wicca can however survive without the Tarot, just like the Tarot survived for many centuries without Wicca!

BEWARE!
These are the original Egyptian Tarot cards from which so many other Tarot decks derived.
http://www.vopus.org/en/content/view/345/132/
They are sacred and we are not allowed to ask any unserious question(like "how will be the weather tomorrow", "am I beautiful or not", yes-no questions, etc.); the question must be serious(for example "why don't I get a job yet?", "what can I do to solve my family problem?","why I still can't find my soulmate",etc.). Also they must be sanctified before use, not letting others touch them(they'll lose accuracy since they will be charged with your energy), make some prayers before asking the Tarot, asking our Inner Father(the Divine within us to answer our question through the cards- the cards don't give an answer on their own, it's our inner Being that gives the answer through them), we must cense them before asking, sitting in a protective circle and so on.
Tarot cards are very attacked by Demons that is why we need to be careful not to use Tarot cards that you can find at any store, that are just derived from the originals and need to perform some protection stuff before using them. Cards being attacked by Demons=> attacking us too, our minds of course(I remember 2 dreams where one made incantations to my mind and I had to burn the cards).

Some Wiccans use tarot cards, some use Astrology, some use the Internet to talk to others and pay bills. Just because someone uses something doesn't make it required. I am a practitioner of Wicca but I don't use tarot, I prefer the Norse runes (elder futhark) for divination.

Anything can be associated with Wicca. It's a "religion" where the followers borrow from any source out there.

I am a reader of the Tarot. ( Actually used to teach it online) However, I am Pagan and not Wiccan. Although Wicca is a Pagan religion, all Pagans are not Wiccan.
