If I had the same range of touch sensitivity as biological skin, then I would be bothered by the same amount -- which is not that much.

The feel of "bugs crawling over your body" being creepy depends on your somatosenses, and how your brain interprets them. Two people could have the same sensations, but perceive (interpret) them differently.

Plastic has been used to relay signals for years as fibre-optic cable ( http://www.humphreys.edu/faculty/jdecosta/eg/cables.htm ). A plastic-based device CAN be used to sense temperature ( http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2002/08/020827062137.htm, para. 3 ). There is even a new type of plastic that conducts electricity ( http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2004/04/040413002146.htm )! So the idea of a plastic thing having "sensations" isn't too far off.

Well yes and no, since plastic doesnt have the nerves that your arm does, YOU wouldnt really "feel" the bug, but on the other hand you could still get bothered psychologically, it just depends on you view of bugs.

No, because plastic does not have nerve endings to feel anything with. Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer, two more points for me. Thank you.
