I am not a doctor, but I would say that it is not your mucus plug. I have had two babies and each time, there is no doubt that it is the mucus plug! (Pretty gross).
I would keep track of your contractions and also put a phone call into your doctor's office. It is better to ask than to have scary thoughts about what could be wrong. After all, your doctor is there to assist you in your child bearing experience.
Congratulations on the baby by the way!!

Sounds normal to me. I also had some blood sometimes after sex or an internal exam. With my first pregnancy I never saw any plug but a friend of mine had said "believe me you will know when you loose your plug since it is a rather big blob". I am currently 36 weeks and I have been having more discharg, braxton hicks and some cramping for a while now too which is normal for this stage of the game. I guess I am also more of a wait and see type person. If you are not having regular contractions every 10 minutes apart for over an hour or horrible pain, I would not be too concerned.

My girlfriend just had our baby three weeks ago. We had the same fright, so we asked our doctor. He said that she bled because during pregnancy there is an increased blood flow to the cervix, so it bled. Your mucus plug could very well be coming out. Don't worry though, you will probably go full term, because it takes a little while for it to all come out. My girlfriends mucus plug started coming out at about 35 weeks just a little bit at a time, and then about 39 weeks, a big glob of it came out. Anyway, what i am trying to say is, even if your plug comes out, it doesn't mean you are going to have the baby. And, just because you are bleeding, especially after sex, doesn't mean that you are going to either. But, you should still get it checked out, because i am no doctor, and i just know what happened with my baby. By the way, congratulations on the baby!

at 35 wks they did a cervix check and i had a similar thing happen.
now, the blood i saw was just spotting. it wasn't like AHHH! blood. and it went away after a day or two. i also had cramping on my sides.
i called the OB about this and they said it's normal to have some spotting and minor cramping after a cervical exam or sex.
now, one thing they stressed, was if my cramping occured across the whole bottom of my abdomen and not just one side or the other, then i was to call them back, because it could be something else.
so, my guess....you're fine, you just had sex that irritated those engorged blood vessels in there.
call your OB to make yourself feel better, though!!!
take care.

The discharge sounds normal for pregnancy. The blood also is normal after sex or an exam. if youar e too worried youcan call your doc & ask what they think. Definitely doesn't sound like your mucous plug though.

Don't know if it's the mucus plug (and I don't know why I'm answering this question), but the same thing happened to me shortly before I went into labor. I never had Braxton Hicks contractions, but are you sure it's not the real thing?

Definitely call the doc. Just for reassurance, I had a baby at 34 weeks, and although she was very small, she is absolutely fine. Take care!

Honey, in thecase of pregnancy, always call your doc for anything out of the ordinary. You don't want to hurt the baby.
